PROJECT: WAVS Farim School Campus
PROJECT TYPE: Greenfield
LOCATION: Guinea-Bissau
COMMODITY: Infrastructure
SERVICE SCOPE: Design & Construction Advice
THE CHALLENGE
Upon successful design and construction management of Itafos’ Farim remote accommodation camp, the charity organisation, West African Vocational Schools (WAVS), approached Halyard to assist with the project management and design for a school campus. The challenge with this undertaking was the remote nature of the project and lack of construction know-how in the region.
THE SOLUTION
Halyard provided pro-bono project management and technical expertise to WAVS to design the school campus and set them up for construction of the stage 1 classroom and perimeter security wall. The construction is currently underway.
Halyard is presently designing the stage 2 phase of the project which includes a large workshop building and additional satellite classrooms.
ACHIEVEMENTS/HIGHLIGHTS
Halyard assisted WAVS with the campus layout and terracing designs which will be comprised of two large workshop buildings, a smaller workshop building, a large school building including administrative offices, five satellite classrooms, an exhibition centre and a guest lodge with separate satellite bungalows.
Halyard looks forward to completing the design work and eventually seeing the campus become a reality for WAVS.
